Hi guys, I asked Triton for costs on purchasing tablets instead of the paper copies at each board meeting. If we wanted to purchase Android tablets with a keyboard it'd be about $300 per supervisor. If we wanted to purchase Ipad tablets with a keyboard it'd be about $1,380 per supervisor. We pay on average $15-$20 for copies per month plus a delivery fee of $40 per month. It's something we can add to a future agenda to discuss, but I wanted to share that with you all, with the quick math being about 2 years ROI on the android tablets. Thanks!

I'm all IOS for personal use but I'll make the sacrifice and use android devices to save the district money.  I would like to see this on the next agenda, I believe it would help speed our meetings along and keep everyone on the same page rather than shuffling the stack of papers.  It would also allow us to project the documents so the public attendees can see what we're discussing.

Hey all, I support as well. I already use my iPad for notes/highlights/questions when we get the packet via email. But at the meeting I have to go page by page to see if I’ve highlighted something so it takes forever… And I end up taking paper notes that I can’t keep track of. So I like the idea. Also, Kendall’s call out about the ability to project agenda items and documents to folks in attendance at meetings is very important. So I’d like to hear more about the usage and benefits at the next meeting… But I’m in favor of less paper. ROI is there even if the tablets have a limited shelf life as well… As long as Travis doesn’t drop his and ruin the ROI calculation! 🙂
